A CREATIVE designer is helping prevent the spread of coronavirus with innovative door opening hooks for hospital staff.
Elliot Dervish, 24, is creating the hooks for NHS workers, in light of the outbreak.
After his therapist mum and other Basildon Hospital staff trialled 150 of the hooks, he’s now set his sights on creating 6,000 of the gadgets.
Elliot, from Chelmsford, said: “I run my own design firm, ED 3D Design Limited and have 3D printers at home, we can make about 100 a day.
“We all know how easy it’s to touch surfaces and our faces or others without thinking, so the hooks will help reduce nurses and staff touching and transferring the virus germs.
“I’ve got an online funding page and it’ll cost about £4,500 to make the 6,000 hooks. The response has been amazing and I’m feeling an overwhelming sense of contributing to keep my mum, and so many like her safe.” To donate see www.gofundme.com and search Elliot Dervish NHS.
