EXPENSIVE rings and brooches have been stolen from an antiques shop on Turl Street in a smash-and-grab at the weekend.
The thieves, who left blood marks at the scene, broke through a window at Norah's Antiques and stole a 'large amount' of expensive jewellery from inside.
It happened between 4pm on Saturday and 7.30am on Sunday, and police think somebody could have seen something 'suspicious'.
Jewellery was found tossed away on the towpaths off of Dale Close, known as Gasworks Bridge - so it is thought the thieves, who were probably left with injuries from the broken glass window, made off in this direction.
The investigating officer Detective Constable Rob Proud, of the Force CID based at St Aldates police station said: “This burglary occurred at some stage after the shop closed on Saturday.
“Although we cannot pinpoint the exact time that this happened, it occurred at an address in the centre of Oxford. Therefore, we believe someone may have seen what happened or witnessed suspicious activity between 4pm on Saturday and 7.30am on Sunday.
“I am asking anybody who did witness anything to make contact with the police.
“I would also ask anybody who was driving in the area and has dash-cam, to please check this and make contact with us if it has picked up anything that may be able to assist in this investigation.”
