Cafe chains around the country are treating NHS staff to free coffee.

Costa, which has several branches in Oxfordshire, is giving coffee, tea and hot chocolate all free of charge to NHS workers for two weeks.

It said in a statement that it is their way of thanking their 'heroes' at the forefront of the coronavirus crisis and providing them with a 'well-deserved coffee break.

It continued: "We are fortunate to be present in many hospitals and nearby locations so our heroes won’t have to go far to take us up on our offer."

Just show your NHS badge in any Costa store for your free drink.

Cafe Nero, which also has stores across the county is doing the same.

It said in a statement: "We wish to offer all the wonderful medical staff free coffee, tea or hot chocolate as a thank you for working so tirelessly during this crisis.

We just need you to bring in your medical ID so we can easily give you your free drink."

All of these cafes are only operating as takeaway.

Pret was also giving NHS workers free hot drinks as well as 50 per cent off everything else but it has now closed.

Starbucks is also shut.
