PUBS across the city have changed the way they operate due to the coronavirus.

Dodo Pub Co, Tap Social and Big Society are all venues that have issued statements on Facebook informing customers of changes including home delivery of beer.

Big Society on Cowley Road says it has increased the frequency in cleaning all public areas - tables, door handles, windows etc.

Staff are not using the same towel twice when cleaning, are using anti-bacteria hand wipes between serving customers and no longer accepting cash payments.

It also encourages anyone who thinks they are showing symptoms to 'stay away' until they pass in order to not further spread the virus.

People can order through Deliveroo which is operating a ‘contact free’ delivery service.

It added: "We know it is a challenging time for everyone, and understand that the hospitality industry, especially our friends up and down the Cowley Road, is facing a period of uncertainty.

"Whether you are visiting us now, or in the future, we look forward to welcoming you and being a bit of normality in these abnormal times."

Tap Social on North Hinksey Lane says staff are washing their hands upon arriving at work and at regular intervals throughout each shift and that hand sanitiser is available for both staff and guests to use.

It has improved its cleaning procedures to be 'more regular and more robust', and says it is following government guidelines on how best to limit risks.

It is also introducing new ideas such as home delivery of beer and increased hours to pick up bottles and fill up growlers.

People are asked that if they know of any other ways the pub can provide a service, to contact them.

Despite uncertain times, the pub hopes people will continue to support it.

Its statement on Facebook added: "If you are well and healthy, we’d love to see you in the taproom this weekend for a beer and some music.

"We will continue to follow government advice and will update everyone on our opening hours should anything change."

Dodo Pub Co. which runs three pubs in the city - the Rusty Bicycle in East Oxford, the Rickety Press in Jericho and the Up in Arms in Marston - says it has gone cashless.

It said on its Facebook page: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused, but know that if this could help even a tiny bit then it's worth it."

Hand sanitiser is also provided in every bar.
