A COMMUNITY litter pick will be taking place later this month, led by national charity Keep Britain Tidy.
West Oxfordshire district councillor Andrew Coles has organised the project at Witney’s Smiths Estate, and he said: “Thoughtlessly discarded litter not only spoils our beautiful town but can also be extremely hazardous for our local wildlife.
“It’s so important we take pride in our town and we all have a responsibility to keep it clean, tidy and litter free.
“Whenever I’m out litter picking, lots of people offer to lend a hand.
“I’ve been really impressed by the level of interest so far and I sincerely hope we’ll make this a regular event throughout the town in future.”

Town mayor Duncan Enright will kick the event off at 10am at the Oasis coffee shop.
Volunteers from the Witney Land Army and the Oasis Family Church are also set to take part.
Teams will head out around the estate, and in neighbouring roads, for a couple of hours.
Following the litter pick, there will be tea, coffee and homemade cakes at the cafe.
The Big Community Litter Pick is set to take place on Saturday, March 28.
