A MAN dragged a woman to the floor in a 'distressing' incident this morning.

The woman, who is in her thirties, was walking along Lycroft Close in Goring, South Oxfordshire, between 12.30am and 1am when a man came up to her from behind. 

He tried to pull her to the floor, but she was able to break free.

The man, who is described as white and around 6ft 2ins tall, also ran away.

At the time he was wearing dark coloured clothes and a bomber style jacket and is described as tall and stock with light coloured, shaved hair. 

The woman didn't have anything stolen but had bruises and grazes on her legs.

The investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector John Capps said it will be 'concerning' for the community but asked residents to remain 'vigilant'. 

He said: "This was a very distressing incident for the victim in this case.

"We are in the very early stages of this investigation.

"We know this will be concerning for the community, but we would ask residents to remain vigilant and report anything suspicious to the police.

"We would ask that anyone who may have seen or heard anything in relation to this incident, or anyone with CCTV footage to get in touch."
