A PERVERT caught at a hostel in Oxford with indecent images of children has pleaded guilty two and a half years after he was caught.

Darren Rivers was at Oxford Crown Court yesterday facing three counts alleging that he had indecent images of children.

The 38-year-old of Poplar Close, Bracknell pleaded guilty to all three counts.

He admitted possession of three photographs and one video in the most severe category - A. He also admitted possession of one photograph in category B and two in category C.

All of the offences, involving the possession of images of child abuse, took place on November 6 2017 in Oxford.

After the pleas had been entered his defence barrister Gordana Austin said the offences had been committed some years ago.

She said her client, who is from Berkshire, had been staying at a hostel in Oxford, and when he was caught with the images he made 'full admissions' at interview.

She added that since the offences he had gained a full time job as a labourer in the construction industry.

She went on to ask for a pre-sentence report before Rivers could be sentenced.

Presiding Judge Nigel Daly agreed to adjourn his sentencing while a report is prepared by the National Probation Service.

That report will explore all sentencing options.

He added that he would adjourn the case because it dated back to 2017 and said that Rivers had not offended since then.

The case was adjourned while a report is prepared and the final sentencing hearing will be held at the same court on April 9.

Rivers was released on bail in the meantime.
