A LORRY ended up wedged on its side in a hedgerow after coming off the road near Bicester.

Firefighters and police were on the scene of the collision on the A4421 this morning, between Bicester and Finmere.

Images shared by Thames Valley Police's roads team on Twitter showed the vehicle at the roadside, close to the junction for Fringford.

Police put up tape around the wheels and were awaiting recovery as of 9am.

A firefighter was pictured climbing on the side of the vehicle and peering into the cab.

Another image showed traffic queuing behind cones as emergency services made the scene safe.

Officers advised drivers to 'expect delays' while the lorry was recovered.

They did not state how the lorry ended up at the roadside, nor if anyone was injured. 

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that it was called out at 7.21am this morning.

A spokesman said: "Two fire appliances attended from Bicester Fire Station, plus a specialist rescue unit from Kidlington Fire Station.

"A lorry was on its side in a field, having left the carriageway."

No one was trapped and no action was required by the fire service, and crews left the scene at 8.14am.
