AN AWARD-WINNING plant scientist will be discussing the role of plants in modern medicine at the Wallingford Gardening Club.
Mankind has used the medicinal properties of plants for thousands of years, yet the role of plants in modern medicine is still considered to be peripheral by many people.

Oxford University Lecturer, Timothy Walker will attempt to put the record straight and to show that plant products are used every day by all of us to relieve pain and suffering, to heal wounds and cure diseases.
Mr Walker has held positions at Oxford Botanical Gardens, Saville Gardens and Kew Garden. He is also a lecturer in Biological Sciences at the Department of Plant Sciences, University of Oxford. The lecturer has also won four gold medals at the Chelsea Flower Show.

The talk will be held at the Ridgeway Community Centre, Off Wood Street in Wallingford on March 12 from 7.30pm to 9pm.
