A TEENAGER previously convicted of having sex with a child has been back in court after sending explicit messages to a young girl.

Bradley Scott was given a three-year supervision order in 2018 following the conviction, and was banned from contacting girls under the age of 16.

South Oxford resident Scott, now 19, was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on Thursday for breaking the terms of his sexual harm prevention order.

The court heard how he has a ‘history of sexual behaviour with underage children’, likely linked to a troubled childhood during which he was ‘rejected by his mother’ and taken into care.

Scott, of Abingdon Road, admitted sending sexual Facebook messages to a 15-year-old girl in March last year.

He also quoted song lyrics from the pop musician SoMo, which said: “I can be tender I can be rough, I can do anything you care for.”

He also asked the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, if she would ‘jump him in bed’.

The messages were discovered by the girl’s mother, the court heard.

Defending Scott, Jane Brady said: “The [psychiatric] reports speak of a very vulnerable, immature young man from a troubled background.

“He has quite simply fallen through the cracks and has not been afforded the support he needs.

“The messages aren’t the most serious or explicit, and there was no coercion. They are also quite limited in number.”

Scott pleaded guilty to one count of sexual communication with a child, and two breaches of the order that was put in place after his previous conviction.

The breaches related to him having a mobile phone with internet access, and an Xbox also with internet access.

Judge Ian Pringle said he ‘knew full well’ that he was not allowed this, and he sentenced him to an immediate prison sentence of 18 months.
