POLICE are looking for volunteers who can remain politically neutral for four-years.

The three new starters will sit on the Joint Independent Audit Committee which will scrutinise the work of the police and crime commissioner, Anthony Stansfeld, and the Chief Constable, John Campbell.

The roles need to be filled by citizens, who are over the age of 18 and live and work in Thames Valley.

Part of the job is to look at issues from both parties like risk management and overseeing audit arrangements and reviewing financial statements.

Though the roles will be unpaid, police have set aside an allowance for travelling to the headquarters in Kidlington – a journey that will need to be done about five times a year.

Two new members have already been appointed, but the force is still hunting for three new people who can commit to the role until July 2024.

Candidates must be willing to remain politically neutral, and be confident in making decisions – but not confrontational.

The closing date for applications is 9am on Monday March 2.

Interviews for the position will be held on Tuesday March 24.
