A MAN who was stopped from knocking down his garage and building an extension is appealing against the decision.

Andy Job, of Marsh Lane, has launched a planning appeal against Oxford City Council.

The council turned down Mr Job's application to knock down his garage and replace it with a new one, as well as two extensions to his home and a front porch in May last year.

When he applied to the council, Mr Job wrote a statement to support his application.

The statement said: "These modest proposals will provide much-needed extra room and floor space for a growing family.

"There are little or no overlooking or overshadowing issues. The traditional design and materials will blend in with the existing street scene."

But the reason given by the council for refusing Mr Job's plan was that the two-storey side extension he wanted to build as part of the changes would be too big.

Now the appeal process has started, Mr Job and the council have to make their cases for and against the extension.
