POLICE are selling framed paintings of fruit.

The lot is one of 17 weird and wonderful listings Thames Valley Police has put up for sale on its eBay page this week, alongside bundles of unopened perfume and a box of saws and hammers.

The force use the buying and selling website to get rid of old evidence and unclaimed items.

Some of it has been stolen by criminals and then seized by police who make the decision to bin it, give it away or sell it.

Ebay is where all of the selling pile ends up.

All of the lots are listed for a starting price of 99p but buyers usually battle in bids to win the items and often the goods are sold at just a fraction of the value.

The money raised then gets put into the Police Property Act Fund, run by the police and crime commissioner and set aside for good causes in Thames Valley, which covers Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire.

There is one catch though.

All the winners must collect everything in person, from the police HQ in Milton Keynes.

At the beginning of the month the police sold hundreds of movies.
