A MAN died in a 'firearm incident' in Didcot this afternoon, which led to a major response from emergency services.
Green Close was cordoned off after a man in his 70s died, following what police described as a 'fear for welfare' call-out.
Thames Valley Police said officers were called at about 1.40pm after 'reports of a firearm incident'.
The man’s death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious, and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
A police presence remained on scene this evening, including armed response vehicles, but the road has reopened.

Didcot residents said the area was in 'lockdown' following the road closure, with schools in the area contacting parents to make them aware of a police presence.

Residents reported seeing a large number of police and ambulance cars heading to Green Close, which is just off the mini roundabout where Mereland Road meets Queensway.
Didcot residents have expressed their sympathy on social media, with dozens of ‘RIP’ messages in response to the police confirming the man's death.
