PUPILS at a primary school in Chipping Norton have won £20,000 from supermarket chain Aldi to spend on new equipment.

St Mary’s C of E Primary School won the money as part of the company's Kit for Schools campaign. It will be put towards enhancing the school’s athletics track and buying equipment.

The school was entered into the prize draw after Aldi shoppers collected stickers every time they spent more than £30 at the town's Banbury Road store, and took them into the school.

It was one of 20 schools across the UK to earn the funding.

Yvonne Stallwood-Barnes, headteacher at St Mary’s C of E Primary School, said: “Physical education is a vital part of our curriculum, and Aldi’s support means we can provide our pupils with even more opportunities to get involved in sports and become more active.”
