IT has been reported that a flight to evacuate around 200 British nationals from coronavirus-hit Wuhan was to arrive in RAF Brize Norton today.

However, a spokesperson from RAF Brize Norton said that the flight landing on the base is "purely speculation".

The flight however has been pushed back to tomorrow due to further negotiations between the UK and Chinese governments.

Nick Gibb, the School Standards Minister, told Sky News that the flight "is certainly coming to a military base in the UK".

The plan is then for passengers to be taken to an "NHS facility" on their return where they would be kept for 14 days to make sure that they do not have symptoms of the virus.

Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab announcd that the flight will depart tomorrow.

He said: “We are pleased to have confirmation from the Chinese authorities that the evacuation flight from Wuhan airport to the UK can depart at 0500 local time on Friday 31 January.

“The safety and security of British nationals is our top priority. Our Embassy in Beijing and consular teams remain in close contact with British nationals in the region to ensure they have the latest information they need.”
