A EUROPEAN Parliament member who represents Oxfordshire has revealed a massive pro-Europe banner he raised thousands of pounds to buy.
Antony Hook raised £14,590 in an online Crowdfunder campaign to 'display a huge We Still Love EU banner on the White Cliffs of Dover before Brexit'.
However rather than hang the display from the cliffs, the Liberal Democrat just rolled it out on the grass on Friday morning.
Guy Verhofstadt, the European Parliament’s chief Brexit negotiator, shared the footage on his Facebook page under the message ‘We love you too!’ with pictures of the EU and UK flags.
The banner, which has a footprint of 150 square metres, was funded by more than 800 members of public.
Mr Hook, MEP for the South East, said: "The overwhelmingly positive response to our banner demonstrates the affection that exists between Britain and the 27 EU member states."
