DOWNTON Abbey creator Julian Fellowes has confirmed that he will start writing a sequel for the first movie‘later this year’.

Scenes for the long-running series were filmed in Bampton in West Oxfordshire and the first film came out in September.

It is expected that a second movie will be released towards the end of 2021 or early 2022.

Mr Fellowes confirmed the news at the recent Television Critics Association press tour event, saying that he would be returning to the world of the Crawleys and the Talbots later on in the year.

Before that, however, he will be focusing on HBO’s new period drama series The Gilded Age.
