WINDS of more than 50mph are set to batter Oxfordshire today as Storm Brendan hits the county.
Following heavy rain last night, a Met Office yellow weather warning for wind has come into force and will last until midnight.

The alert, which covers all of Oxfordshire as well as much of England and Wales, states: "Strong winds will develop on Tuesday which may bring some disruption."

Forecasters say it will start raining across the county at 11am, with wind speeds gradually increasing throughout the afternoon and reaching the highest speeds at around 7pm.

Oxford is set to get gusts up to 48mph, meanwhile in areas like Benson and Witney it is likely to exceed 50mph.
The yellow weather wind warning means some delays to road and rail travel are likely.
Journeys are expected to take longer with 'probably' some bus and train services affected.
Some short term loss of power and other services is also possible.
