He has not yet been formally identified but a Home Office post mortem is due to take place on Sunday.

In an update on the murder investigation this afternoon, Thames Valley Police said the cordons that were in place in the area had been 'significantly reduced' but that officers would remain on patrol.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Blaik, said: "Our Major Crime Unit is continuing to investigate this incident, during which a man lost his life.

"The two other victims, both men, one in his twenties and another in his thirties, have now been released from hospital.

"Mendip Heights road has reopened, with cordons in the area reducing significantly.

"However, officers continue to investigate this incident thoroughly and we are extremely grateful for the patience and understanding of the residents of the area while we have been present."

Police said they were called to an 'altercation between a group of men' at 3.46am yesterday.

They said yesterday that the two injured men had been taken to hospital in a 'serious but stable' condition.

No arrests had been made as of last night and police did not mention any arrests in the update this afternoon.
