A MAN who is facing a string of charges alleging attempted sexual communication with children will not enter a plea yet, because of his 'severe' undiagnosed learning difficulties.

Ashley Bourton faces five counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.

The 21-year-old of Wigod Way in Wallingford, is also charged with attempting to cause a child under the age of 13 to look at an image of a person engaging in sexual activity.

He faces two further counts of making indecent images of children, namely two in category B and 45 in category C; the lowest category.

The offences are all alleged to have taken place in Didcot last year.

At Oxford Crown Court yesterday, Bourton was expected to enter a plea of guilty or not guilty.

Instead, his defence lawyer Peter Du Feu, asked Judge Daly whether it could be adjourned for a psychological report.

Mr Du Feu said: "Mr Bourton has quite significant learning difficulties they seem to have gone without diagnosis.

"Mr Bourton has had significant speaking difficulties.

"Mr Bourton has a tendency to say yes and OK no matter what the question."

Judge Daly added: "Having looked at the interview there is one syllable answers."

The prosecution lawyer, Matthew Walsh, added that there were no problems with adjourning the case, as the crown were looking into the possibility of whether any other charges would be brought against him.

The case will next be heard on February 25. Until then he cannot use any electronic devices which can access the internet.
