A SECONDARY school has opened a multi-faith prayer room for pupils to use.

Cheney School in Headington opened the new space this week, which anyone in the school community who wishes to pray or find a quiet spot for reflection is welcome to use.

The school is proud of its multicultural community and unveiled a 'diversity mural' last year.

A plaque next to the mural is engraved with the message: "We stand in solidarity with everyone regardless of race, regardless of religion, regardless of sexuality or gender.

"We commend our different cultures and we give thanks for our collective creativity.

"For everyone who shares these values, Cheney will always be a home."
