FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle a car fire on fire on the M40 yesterday afternoon.
One crew from Oxfordshire Fire Service extinguished the blaze at junction 8A at Wheatley at around midday. There were reports of some congestion caused by the incident, which occurred on the London-bound carriageway though traffic returned to normal by 1pm.

There were no reports of any injuries.
Traffic was greater than expected over the weekend with drivers diverted along the M40 following the closure of the M1 in Bedfordshire following a pile-up on Saturday.
