“I would urge any drivers who were in the area around the time this happened to check any dash-cam footage in case it may have captured something that could assist with this investigation.

“Anyone with information can contact police by calling 101, or making a report online, quoting reference 43190400541.

“Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

It is the second fatality on the A420 in as many weeks.

On Wednesday last week, December 18, a man in his 30s died at the Besselsleigh junction, in a two-car collision shortly before 5am.

Another man suffered serious injuries in the same crash.

The following day, another crash closed the A420, at Little Coxwell near Faringdon.

A woman had to be freed by firefighters following the three-car crash, but everyone involved escaped with minor injuries.
