ONE of the largest youth churches in Oxfordshire recently staged a magical candlelit concert.

Bladon Junior Church performed Christmas songs, as well as hits from films and musicals.

The youngsters performed songs from films including The Polar Express, Mary Poppins and Mamma Mia.

Over thirty children took part, aged from five to 20, and the full capacity audience thoroughly enjoyed the mixture of tunes, said Philip Rumsby.

The group meet at the church every Sunday and have recently performed a wide variety of shows, much to the enjoyment of the local community.

Recent stage productions include 42nd Street, Cats and Annie.

In July 2017, the church received a significant cash boost raised from local fundraising and grants from charitable trusts.

The money helped the floor area almost double in size and the installation of inside toilets, central heating and disabled access.
