POTENTIAL house buyers will get a festive welcome thanks to a doormat designed by schoolchildren.

Bellway Homes invited pupils in Chinnor to create their own Christmas-themed designs, with the three best artists seeing their work transformed into a real doormat.

They ran the competition with St Andrew’s CE Primary School and Mill Lane Community Primary School, with runners-up Hallie Findlater and Rachel Cheung able to take theirs home for their families to use.

As well as one to take home, the doormat designed by winner Will Borrelli is now proudly displayed at the Bellway’s Oak Hill Park show home in Chinnor.

The Year 5 pupil at St Andrew's drew a pair of smiling reindeer.

Steve Ponting, sales and marketing manager at Bellway Homes, presented the winning doormats.

He said: "We would like to say thank you to all of the students and staff who took part in the competition.

"All the students should be really proud of the calibre of work they produced."

St Andrew’s headteacher Annette Mashru added: "The children jumped at the chance to take part in this competition and our winners were delighted to see the end results."
