A MAN in his thirties has died after a crash on the A420 this morning.

At around 4.50am on Wednesday morning two vehicles were involved in a head-on collison at the junction of the A420 and Besselsleigh Road, near Wootton.

The road was closed in both directions while Thames Valley Police carried out investigations this morning.

A silver Vauxhall Crosa travelling from Swindon towards Oxford crashed into a silver Toyota Corolla travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the Corolla, a man in his thirties, suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to the John Radcliffe Hospital, where he died.

The driver of the Corsa also suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the same hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Investigating officer PC Lyndsey Blackaby of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, based at Bicester, said: "Although this collision occurred in the early hours of the morning, this is normally a busy stretch of road, and so I am appealing to anybody who witnessed the collision, or who believes they have dash-cam footage of the incident, to please get in touch with police.

“Tragically, as a result of this collision, a man has passed away. At this stage, his next of kin have not been informed, but we are making every effort to notify them and offer them the support they will need at this very difficult time.”

Anybody with information should call police using the non-emergency number on 101 quoting the reference 43190394335.
