OXFORD Civic Society has welcomed a decision to review planning approval for 480 new homes at the Oxford North development.
After the West area planning committee backed the scheme last month the decision was called in by councillors and a review hearing will be held on Monday at the town hall at 6pm.
The homes are due to be built on the site owned by St John’s College north of the Wolvercote Roundabout.

One of the issues raised by councillors who prompted the review was the amount of affordable housing proposed - 35 per cent - less than the council’s target of 50 per cent.

Chairman of the civic society Ian Green said: “St John’s is one of the wealthiest colleges in Oxford with a long and proud history.
"With this major development on their land in North Oxford they have the opportunity to help tackle the critical problem of the lack of affordable housing and to create a lasting legacy for the community of which they are part.”
