A SERIES of attempted burglaries in a village near Banbury has prompted a police appeal for witnesses.

Thames Valley Police said about 6am on Friday officers received multiple reports of a person trying door handles in attempt to gain access to the properties in Oxford Road.

The offender is described as a white man, around 5ft 8ins tall. He was wearing a dark colour hooded top.

Investigating officer PC Lucy McDonagh based at Banbury police station said: “I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed these incidents to get in touch.

"If you have any CCTV or dash cam footage from the area at the time of the incidents then please let us know as you may have captured something to assist with this investigation. A 46-year-old man from Banbury was arrested on suspicion of burglary with intent to steal.

He has been released on bail to appear at Banbury police station on December 30.
