WEST-The Property Consultancy, a new-look estate agency and property advisory consultancy, has launched in Oxfordshire.

Founded by Gavin West, it has opened its flagship office in Banbury Road in Summertown. It has also has offices in Mill Street, Wantage, and Mayfair, London.

The business has successfully traded since 2003, previously under licence in the names of two respected property industry brands – one a planning consultancy and the other a Cotswolds-based rural agency.

Since 2003 the team has completed almost 3,000 residential sales transactions and managed thousands of residential lettings transactions in Oxford and across Oxfordshire.

However, this year Mr West chose to move his established team into his own standalone company to strengthen their position as known personalities.

Oxford Mail:

Mr West said: “Our business is about our people, their track records, experience, local knowledge and their endless energy and enthusiasm.

“They’re all well-known personalities in their field and people naturally recommend people, so I decided to place our name above the door and gain the true advantage of 16 years of trading in Oxford.

“This will help us market our business, by showcasing the people who have got us here today.”

Mr West has more than 30 years’ experience in estate agency and has built a team of eight experts across residential sales, lettings, management, land and new homes disciplines.

West-The Property Consultancy now also offers additional services, in Block & Estate Management, Property Auctions, and Commercial Agency.

“Most of my team have been with me for over a decade, which is rare in this industry,” said Mr West.

Oxford Mail:

“We’re a property consultancy and agency with a new look and branding but we just happen to be very established.

“Purchasing or renting a property is a major decision, we take a mature approach to the process and work closely with our clients, buyers and tenants throughout and get to know them properly, so we build lasting relationships.”

Mr West said local knowledge was critical.

“Oxford is one of a few specialist markets in the UK, with a combination of the university, hospitals and emerging Science and Tech sectors,” he said.

“It’s a resilient market, especially within the city’s ring road, where it’s essentially an international marketplace with a large student population,”

He added: “I live in Oxford and educate my children here, so I know the city and its infrastructure extremely well, which helps me to deliver a better service to our clients given my connection.”

The team at West–The Property Consultancy are all trained and qualified in their fields of property.

Oxford Mail:

Mr West said: “We’ve only ever only recruited high-quality people who have the right attitude, professionalism, track record and can add value for clients.

“Our clients trust us, and our repeat business is very strong because of this.

“The transition into West–The Property Consultancy has been seamless because the team have been together for some time and they’re excited by the new direction.”

He added: "We care about our clients and work hard to deliver for them, and our fees are transparent and fair.

“We also provide an advisory service to landlords and investors, to help them keep abreast of any legislative changes and also to make wise investment decisions.”

Mr West is not deterred by concerns the impact Brexit could have on the economy.

He said: “We’re a small home owning democracy and supply is unlikely to outstrip demand in our lifetime. Oxford will always be a dynamic marketplace, given its enduring international appeal.”

“I started my agency career in a banking-precipitated recession in 1983 and have worked successfully through every peak and trough since,” he added.

“The key is being creative, enthusiastic and possessing a proven track record.

“One of our biggest strengths is our differentiated marketing expertise which sets client’s campaigns aside from the norm. "Last month for instance we were given instructions to sell a commercial property that had been on the market for two years with national commercial agency brands. It was a sound investment, but it was being mis-marketed.

"We positioned the property properly, selling the benefits of its rural location and its potential to improve staff morale and productivity. We agreed terms with a buyer within 10 weeks.”
