OXFORD City Council is interested in the idea of installing eBike charging points in the future.

Ahead of the city council’s meeting on Monday, Tom Hayes, cabinet member for a zero carbon Oxford, was asked by Green councillor Dick Wolff to look at how the charging points might be brought to the city.

Mr Hayes said: "Both City and County councils are very aware of the importance of the need for electric bike charging points and we will work to ensure that they are reflected in policies on cycle parking in LTP5 [the new local transport plan] and the City Council's planning documents wherever possible."

Mr Hayes said he had recently attended a summit on eBikes hosted by Green TV which had been useful for information on the subject.

He added Oxfordshire County Council was in charge of transport in the city, and he would raise the issue with them.
