A DRIVER had a lucky escape after crashing a car along a rural road in Oxfordshire.

The vehicle crashed and flipped in the village of Fernham, near Faringdon, landing on its roof.

Emergency services were sent to the scene on Thursday night, and police have used the incident as an example to others.

Posting on Twitter and Facebook yesterday, an officer who dealt with the collision wrote: "Fortunately no-one was injured but [this is] a timely reminder to drive to the conditions."

One person, responding on the TVP South Oxon and Vale of White Horse Facebook page, said he had seen 'a lot of mud' on the road.

He added: "Not defending not driving to conditions...but lots of mud, no warning signs, tight bend, unlit road is an accident waiting to happen."

Another added: "It’s been the same for years. I grew up there and I can remember only two accidents in all that time.

"If you’re driving on country roads you should take care at all times and read the road."

Police did not specify which road the collision happened in, but the main road running through the village is the B4508 Fernham Road.
