IT SEEMS a month of rain and flooding has produced some wonderful photography, from dreary November to picturesque blue skies and colourful nights, Camera Club has yet again taken some great pictures.

The theme of reflections is perfectly fitting with Oxfordshire as it is a county full of riversides and canals. This week we have received some beautiful images of nature from across the county, from low flying ducks to misty waters and blue skies.

Many of the pictures were inspired by the flooding with a brilliant photo of Blenheim Palace perfectly sitting over its own reflection on clear water. Bryan Robertson took the photo saying it was inspired by the result of global warming.

Peaceful pictures of reflections on water over rivers include a reflection of a church at Abingdon and hot air balloons in the blue sky.

The pictures from this week’s Camera Club theme also show people out and about in Oxford and the sights they have seen. Great examples are Wendy Meagher’s picture of people walking by showing the reflection in the rippled water and, left, Derek Bird’s dog playing in water.

Jim Jutton sent us in a picture of the old reflecting the new as a cyclist is captured in the reflection of a modern building still capturing traditional Oxford.

Others played on the theme of reflection without using water. Ann Snow sent in a picture of reflections from an installation at the Oxford light festival. The colourful entry of the lights is continuous and reflects multiple times from the mirrors in the installation. It was great to receive a topical image from the week showcasing some of the great art from the light festival.

A similar take on reflections is from an entry by Clare Barton, the picture shows her daughter having a fun day out at the museum. The image depicts multiple reflections through the mirrors.

On the topic of museums, Jim Jutton also entered an image of reflecting the Ashmolean illustrating people walking through the and exploring the museum.

There was two images that added some extra fun to the collection of photographs, with Lego man from Allan Dannfald and Marmite from Julie Holt. The Lego man taking a shower with a reflection is a funny take on the theme and Julie’s Marmite snap titled ‘love it or hate it’ has a definite love from us.

Winner to be announced in tomorrow’s Oxford Mail.
