FOLLOWING a number of burglaries where houses have been targeted for high value gold jewellery, police urge people to make sure their house 'is not a pot of gold'.
Police say that the gold is often melted for cash or sold on.

It has given crime prevention tips such as not keeping high-value jewellery at home but in a bank safety box instead; investing in a home safe; keeping an inventory of your jewellery and taking photographs of your jewellery.
Further advice includes making sure your home is secure, not leaving jewellery on display and using forensic marking to identify your pieces.
