A HORROR crash on the A34 which caused traffic to be held four hours on Saturday night has left a 13-year-old girl with 'potentially life-threatening injuries'.

Emergency services have now revealed more details about the incident, which was described by Thames Valley Police at the time as 'very serious' and closed the A34 northbound between Milton and Marcham.

South Central Ambulance Service spokesman David Gallagher has today confirmed it received 'multiple' 999 calls just after 7pm on Saturday, all reporting a three-car collision on the A34 northbound at Drayton, near Abingdon.

He said SCAS sent two ambulances, a paramedic team leader in a rapid response vehicle and the Thames Valley Air Ambulance critical care car to the incident.

Mr Gallagher confirmed in one of the cars a mum and her two children were injured. 

He said the woman and her eight-year-old son had suffered minor injuries but her 13-year-old daughter had 'serious and potentially life-threatening injuries'.

They were taken in two ambulances to the John Radcliffe Hospital, with the TVAA team travelling with the teenager to hospital.

Four other people with minor injuries were treated and discharged at the scene.

Traffic was held on strectch of road until just after 11pm, with Highways England warning drivers not to move their cars unless told to by police.
