CYCLING lane surfacing removed from Cowley Road was a cause for concern at Oxfordshire County Council’s meeting on Tuesday.

Councillor Damian Haywood asked why the ‘clear demarcations’ of cycling lanes with a different coloured surface had not been replaced after Cowley Road was resurfaced.

Cabinet member for the environment, Yvonne Constance, said some of the lines were not re-drawn as they were a trial, and added coloured surfacing was hard to maintain, so OCC was not likely to replace it in the future.

Ms Constance said a meeting had been arranged for Mr Haywood to discuss whether the trial lines could be replaced in some areas with council officers.
