A MAN charged with having a samurai sword at a service station is due at court today.
Wahaj Abbasi faces one count of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
It is alleged that the 19-year-old of Cromwell Close, Oxford, had the samurai sword while at Peartree Services, which is north of the city, on October 22 this year.
No formal plea to the allegation has yet been entered.

Abbasi is due to appear before Oxford Magistrates' Court for the first court hearing for the allegation.
That hearing will be held at the lower court today.
As the offence is an 'either-way' matter it can be heard either before magistrates or at the upper court - Oxford Crown Court.
Upon conviction magistrates can impose up to six months prison and an unlimited fine for the offence of having an offensive weapon.
