THOUSANDS of homes were left without electricity after a major power cut.
Power distributor SSEN said almost 3,500 properties in and around Didcot were affected by the outage this morning.
The power cut affected the OX11 postcode and started at about 9am.
SSEN apologised to customers and said it hoped to restore power by midday, although some customers on Twitter reported still being without electricity after that.
We're very sorry for the #powercut affecting #DIDCOT and the surrounding areas. We have a fault on our main network but are aiming to restore power by 12:00.

A customer who called the power company said they had described it as a 'major fault' on the phone.
According to SSEN's website the powercut has struck homes in 156 post codes.
The powercut notice on the website said: "We’re sorry for the loss of supply. We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed. Our engineers are on site working hard to get the power back on as quickly as they can."
One person on Twitter said the New Look store in Didcot was also left without power, and staff told her they were unable to let her collect her order due to 'health and safety.'
