AN alleged grooming victim told jurors she did not make allegations 'to improve her position.'

Four men - Naim Khan, 41, of no fixed abode, Mohammed Nazir, 44, of Wood Farm Road, Oxford, Raheem Ahmed, 42, of no fixed abode, and Afzal Mohammed, 42, of Randall Street, Oxford all deny a string of charges including rape, conspiracy to rape and indecent assault.

Jurors at the trial have already seen a series of video recorded interviews with the woman where she detailed the allegations, including abuse at parks and at various houses.

As the trial continued yesterday the woman continued to answer questions from defence barristers representing her alleged abusers, from the witness box.

Paul Hinds, for Nazir, asked the woman if she was 'prepared to lie' in order to avoid prison, which she denied.

He also asked her if there was a 'link between the amount of trouble [she] was in' and what she told officers.

He put to her: "I suggest you are making allegations in order to improve your position."

She replied that she had not.

She went on: "I am still on drugs now, I take drugs most days."

Earlier in the trial she said previously she had been homeless and using class A drugs. She also said she had shoplifted to fund her drugs habit.

The trial continues.
