A PENSIONER was robbed in an alleyway by a man who stole her handbag from her walking frame before fleeing.

Thames Valley Police is now appealing for witnesses after the attack which took place on Thursday at about 2.15pm.

Officers said the victim - a woman aged in her 70s - was walking through The Croft in Headington when she was approached from behind by a man on a bike.

The man pushed the woman, took her handbag from her walking frame and cycled away in the direction of Ruskin College.

She was not injured as a result of the robbery.

The offender is described as white, in his forties, between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 10ins tall with thinning brown hair. He was wearing a pale knee length jacket and was riding a black bike.

Case Investigator Marie Doherty, based at Oxford police station, said: "I am appealing for anyone who may have seen this incident to please come forward.

"The alleyway is located just off Osler Road and Dunston Road.

"It is quite a busy cut through with access to the John Radcliffe Hospital and as such I believe there is a high chance that someone saw what happened or has information that may assist the investigation.

"I would also urge any motorists to check any dash-cam footage of the local area in case it may have captured something important.
