JURORS in a two-month long murder trial have handed down their final verdicts.

Four men - Michael Yemane, 20, of South Bridge Row, Oxford; Welid Solomon, 26, of Field Avenue, Oxford; Sasan Mohammed Khalid, 19, of no fixed abode; and Safeen Abdullah Karimi, 28, of Hode Garth, Thame, were all on trial at Oxford Crown Court accused of murder.

Prosecutors had claimed that the four men ‘meted out retribution’ for an earlier fight and left their victim Luciano Dos Santos Almeida dying and covered in blood near to a bustling Cowley Road.

One of the multiple knife wounds was delivered with such force, jurors were told, that the tip of the blade became lodged in the victim's skull.

In CCTV footage played to the court one of the men - Solomon - is seen to drive into their victim at Southfield Road in East Oxford at about 11.30pm on February 27 this year.

Later the men 'chased' Mr Almeida up Southfield Road where he was repeatedly stabbed and left for dead.

This afternoon, as the trial came to an end three of the four men were convicted and a fourth was cleared.

-Yemane was found guilty of murder by a majority verdict.

-Solomon was found guilty of murder as well as perverting the course of justice by a unanimous verdict.

-Karimi was cleared of murder but found guilty of a lesser charge of manslaughter.

-Khalid - who took to the stand to profess his innocence during the case - was roundly found not guilty of any wrong-doing.

Following the verdicts presiding Judge Ian Pringle QC thanked the jury for their dedication and promised 'a reward' for their service.
