CAMPAIGNERS from Oxford were among the more than 300,000 estimated to have taken part in the latest 'People’s Vote' march to demand a second EU referendum.

Protestors travelled from all over the UK on Saturday to London to take part in the march, in a fleet of 172 organised coaches.

The Thick of It creator Armando Iannucci, as he has previously, paid for coaches from Oxford to travel to the capital for the march.

VAIZEY: Boris expelled me, but I still vote for his deal

Oxford for Europe chair Dr Peter Burke said: “On Saturday, people from Oxford and all across the UK headed to London to demand our voices are heard.

“Boris Johnson needs to hear loud and clear he must seek our consent before he inflicts his damaging Brexit on our country.”

Three fully booked coaches were organized by Oxford for Europe and another by Remain Labour Oxford.

Oxford Mail:

Neighbouring groups from Witney, Banbury, Didcot and Wantage organised their own coaches. Since the march, hundreds of thousands of people have signed a letter as part of a new campaign, demanding that people are given the final say on Brexit in a referendum.

The letter will be delivered before the final Brexit deadline of October 31 to Downing Street and the Houses of Parliament, as well as the European Parliament to other European heads of government.

DODDS: A no-deal Brexit must come off the negotiating table

At the same time as Saturday's march Prime Minister Boris Johnson tried to get parliamentary approval for his Brexit deal but an amendment tabled by Conservative MP Sir Oliver Letwin, withholding approval until the withdrawal bill implementing Brexit had been passed, was voted for causing the Government to pull the vote.
