RESIDENTS who live in a rural area of Oxfordshire are invited to an event to find out more about work to a nearby railway line.

People from Blackthorn and Piddington can go to be informed about work to stabilise a four mile stretch of embankment on the Chiltern main line.

Network Rail will carry out the £30 million upgrade starting from November 4, which involves putting in place 100,000 tonnes of rock along the 3.9 mile-long embankment to strengthen it.

The event is next Wednesday from 2pm to 6.30pm at Piddington Village Hall.
