NINE parrots have been stolen from the outbuilding of a home in Burton.

Police are calling for help after the incident, which happened sometime between 6pm on Thursday, October 10 and 8am the following day.

Officers say the door to the outbuilding was forced open before the birds, which are worth around £9,000, were taken.

The stolen birds include two double yellow-headed, two African grey, two pink galah, a vinaceous, a meyer’s and a little corella.

Police Community Support Investigator Cheryl Belfield, of Christchurch police, said: “These parrots are of great sentimental value to the victim as she has owned them for a number of years.

“I am calling for anyone who has seen any parrots for sale in unusual circumstances since the time of the incident to get in touch.”
