A NEW model that is economical and friendly to the environment, has arrived in Oxfordshire, with a lot of interest from motorists.

The Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion is on display and available for test drive at Motorworld's showroom at Oxford Motor Park, in Kidlington. Will Hicks, of Motorworld Volkswagen, said: "We have had a lot of interest in this new model because it has very impressive economy and the industry's lowest emission levels. Most of us are keen to do our bit to be more green and would like to buy a car that has good credentials The press have given it superb reviews and word has got round.

"Customers can now take the car out on the road and see how it performs. Our order book is open and we have already taken orders with delivery expected early next year. We believe it will have universal appeal because so many of us would opt for a car that is kinder to the environment. It has a slightly higher price point than a conventional Polo, but I don't think this will affect demand too much.

The Polo BlueMotion has some of the most impressive green credentials in the industry at present, with emissions to rival the Toyota Prius and the Honda Civic Hybrid.

A number of factors are involved in its fuel-efficient design, including smooth aerodynamics, an improved engine management system, longer transmission ratios in the gearbox and reduced weight of the car. The BlueMotion technology is available in the Polo, Passat and Passat Estate and will shortly be seen on a Golf model that can travel up to 745 miles on one tank of fuel.
