THE A30 was closed for several hours after a serious crash near Camborne yesterday evening.

One person was trapped in their vehicle after the car left the road and hit a tree.

The road was shut eastbound between the junction for the A3047 at Camborne and the A3047 Avers Roundabout at Redruth.

A police spokesperson said: “Emergency services at single vehicle collision A30 Illogan, eastbound carriageway currently closed - please avoid the area or expect delays.”

Traffic monitoring service Inrix described the crash as “serious”.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene, with one appliance and the Rescue Tender from Tolvaddon Fire Station using crews using crash rescue equipment to release the occupant.

The casualty was left in the care of Ambulance crew.
