A FUNDRAISER took place in Ellesmere on Saturday in aid of a local charity.
The table top sale was held at the Town Hall in Willow Street to raise funds for The Plantation Wood – and many bargains were to be had.
A number of stalls filled the hall selling preloved clothes and toys, to handmade wooden items, jams and plants.
Guests were also able to enjoy a sit-down with a slice of cake and a hot drink, in between browsing the many wares.
One of the volunteers for the The Plantation Wood Trust, Mandy Edwards, said that the wood – which sits near to the canal and the Mere – was donated to the people of Ellesmere and was in need of funds for its upkeep, including the cutting back of ivy and the clearing of footpaths among other things.
"We wanted to do something that was part of Ellesmere and to put stuff back into Ellesmere," she said. "This is our second table-top event.
"My dad's on the committee too and my son helps out now and again as well."
"I like gardening and being outdoors," Mandy's son Bradley added. "I've been helping to cut down Ivy at the wood."
Members of the committee will also be at the Winter Festival in Ellesmere on Friday, November 29 with a stall to raise more funds for the trust.
