SHROPSHIRE libraries are celebrating an extremely successful Summer Reading Challenge.
Almost 3,000 children signed up across the county to this year's challenge named Space Chase.
The children were challenged to read six library books during the summer holidays to receive a certificate and a medal.
An impressive 1,678 children rose to the challenge, and more than 28,000 items of children’s stock flew off library shelves during the six-week break.
Lezley Picton, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for culture leisure, waste and communications was delighted with the results.
“I’m thrilled to see that so many children took part and completed this year’s summer reading challenge,” she said.
