POLICE officers made a surprise discovery this week when they went to carry out a routine inspection of a heavy goods vehicle.

The officers from Thames Valley Roads Policing went to look in the back of the lorry expecting to find crates or boxes and were stunned when they came face-to-face with an enormous dinosaur.

The T-rex was thankfully not a live specimen, but the find nonetheless sparked a flurry of reactions online when the officer posted the photo above.

Sarah Williams replied: "So cool!" But added: "I can imagine needing a clean pair of undies opening the back up on that lorry."

Del Ingram joked: "Doyouthinkhesawus? Ill get me coat."

The officer in question did not explain what the lorry driver was doing with the giant model.
