A FERTILITY clinic that has helped more than 13,000 babies enter the world is celebrating a decade at its state-of-the-art
Oxford base.
This month marks ten years since Oxford Fertility Clinic moved into the £4 million facility at Oxford Business Park, which brought patient care and cutting-edge research under the same roof.
Medical director Tim Child said: “As Oxford Fertility enters its next decade, it’s encouraging to see how, with the help of research and the amazing support of our patients who entrust us, the practice of fertility care has developed.
“It’s no longer ‘just’ IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation). There is now a wide variety of proven treatments and processes we can use.
“After investigating we can tailor treatment to closely meet the needs of each patient.

He added: “I can’t wait to see how this personalisation and success rates will increase further over the next ten years.”
For more than three decades the Oxford service has been helping couples who have struggled with infertility.
It moved from a cramped ward at the Women’s Centre of the John Radcliffe Hospital, where couples had to walk through the maternity unit to be treated, to the purpose-built facility, featuring the county’s first and only state of the art IVF lab in 2009.
Among those who have benefited from the Oxford service is Tina Milkovic whose twins were the first born in the UK via IVM (In Vitro Maturation) a drug-free version of IVF.

Her children, Ilia and Isabella, are now eleven and she said she can’t imagine life without them.
The 41-year-old, who lives in north Oxford, received her treatment when Oxford Fertility was at the John Radcliffe Hospital, but has visited the new facility and said she thinks it is ‘such a boost’ for people who need fertility treatment.

Another woman, who did not want to be named, was one of the first patients to be treated at the purpose-built Oxford Fertility facility.
She said: “We’d been trying for a baby for over three years when our GP referred us to Oxford Fertility. Our first appointment was at the John Radcliffe Hospital, but our second was at the new facility.
“It was quite a contrast – it was so modern and welcoming. I remember the staff were so kind and made us feel relaxed.”
